Winnipeg and Brandon University Playwrights Engage in Playwrights Readings and Workshop

The Creative Writing program at Brandon University, in conjunction with the Manitoba Association of Playwrights, is pleased to present an afternoon of dramatic readings and workshops featuring Winnipeg and Brandon playwrights on Sunday, March 23 at 2:00pm.

“Sunday Drama: Playwrights Readings & Workshop” presents Winnipeg playwrights Mike Bell, Andrew Lizotte, and Ellen Peterson, and Brandon playwrights Kirsty Cameron, Dylan Keogh, and Bob Macumber, who are also current or past Brandon university students.

The event begins at 2:00 pm in Room 104, Clark Hall with readings by the Winnipeg playwrights followed by readings of short plays by the Brandon playwrights and workshop discussions of each of their three works. The workshop will be led by dramaturges Ellen Peterson and Andrew Lizotte.

Ellen Peterson’s play The Brink was produced at Prairie Theatre Exchange in Winnipeg in 2012. She currently leads the Open Door Dramaturgy Program for the Manitoba Association of Playwrights. Her work includes directing and acting for the stage and screen.

Andrew Lizotte conducts dramaturgy alongside Peterson and, in addition to his playwriting, is a professional stand-up comedian who has toured under the Yuk Yuk’s chain across Canada.

Mike Bell works as a playwright, screenwriter and actor, and has taught creative writing as a sessional instructor at Brandon University.

Funding support generously provided by the Manitoba Writers Guild.
