In November of 2018, Prairie Theatre Exchange (PTE) created the Emerging Playwrights Unit, in partnership with MAP, with the goal of helping to develop the participating playwrights’ voices and stories.  In 2023, the 2nd iteration was renamed the PTE/MAP Playwrights Unit to honour the collaborative nature of the relationship between our two organizations and the support we are both offering the participating playwrights.  The Unit is now entering in its 3rd iteration.  Information about the 2026-2028 cohort can be found on the PTE website. 

MAP hosts or supports other Playwrights' Units on an ad hoc basis, as desire and need arise, such as the Dotagers Playwriting Unit which received an Open Door scene study.
